Sri Lanka match is a sell-out for Somerset

With days to go before Somerset County Cricket Club's match against the touring Sri Lankan national team, all 6,000 tickets at the County Ground have been sold in advance. This is the first time ever that the club has sold out in advance, and is a result of the Club offering its supporters the chance to buy tickets via the web and over the phone this season.

Interest in cricket is experiencing a surge following last summer's heady Ashes series. Somerset supporters are being urged not to travel to the ground for the Sunday 11 June match unless they have pre-booked a ticket.

Somerset County Cricket Club began offering advance tickets online from their website www.somersetcountycc.co.uk and by phone earlier this year using the ticketingsolutions system from leading ticketing software provider ts.com. This allows the Club to manage all their ticket sales from one centralised system and to give supporters and club members the opportunity to buy tickets for games quickly and easily in advance.

Richard Gould, Chief Executive of Somerset County Cricket Club, remarked on this historic sell-out match, "for the first time in living memory we know we are going to have a sell-out crowd to cheer on the Club against the Sri Lankans. Tickets to the Club's Twenty20 games are also selling fast so I would suggest no supporter waits too long to buy."
