Mobile ticketing innovation for Chiltern Railways

ts.com is working with Chiltern Railways to provide an innovative solution which will enable them to become the first train operator to deliver rail tickets through to their customer’s mobile phones.
The combined ts.com and Chiltern Railways ticketing solution will enable a train customer to register with the mobile ticketing service through the Chiltern Railways website. Passengers can log on to the Chiltern Railways website and purchase their mobile tickets. Once the ticket is purchased, a secure barcode will be sent to the customer’s mobile phone via a text message. When they arrive at the station, the bar code is scanned and they can get through the gates to board their train.
Commercial Director for Chiltern Railways, Neil Micklethwaite said, “We are happy to be leading the industry as the first train operating company in the UK to sell mobile ticketing to our passengers in this format.
“ts.com have provided us with the perfect solution to make the mobile ticketing compatible with our online Eday product.
“There are many benefits to mobile ticketing but the most important is that it is simple and convenient, providing lower cost tickets for our passengers and giving them even more value for money. Mr Micklethwaite added.
